Here's the di.fm announcement.

Image

Nightcore is a sub-genre of the internet age, taking Trance, Eurodance, and Hands Up from the early 2000s and pitching them up to 170BPM. YouTube played an important role in the success of this sound as well as the ease of access to technology allowing anyone to get involved making their own Nightcore versions of tracks with ease. Nightcore on Digitally Imported focusses on these Trance and Dance Nightcore edits, with lots of vocals and Happy Hardcore beats, rather than the Pop and Rock sub-culture that also developped alongside it.

Thanks for the link hko. Btw, what's the difference between a genre and a sub-genre?

if I'm correct a sub-genre came forth from a bigger genre.. like house and deep-house, where house is the genre and deep-house the sub-genre :D

It's very encouraging that Nightcore is on Di.FM. It's a bit of a shame that the Hardcore community is giving it a bit of bad rep. I personally think it's great, because di.FM is reasonably well networked. People from other genres can enjoy Nightcore, as you guys can enjoy other music. The issue with Hardcore fans is that they have a few superstitious worries about Nightcore because of a few age-old tracks that were deemed stealing. I'm sure once they see Nightcore as it is now, with a healthy load of music and a fantastic community, that superstition will turn to jealousy! :D

On a serious note, it's a great step in the right direction. As a very good community, I suggest you start looking at annual radio events or occasional radio festivals. These are a couple days of scheduled DJ's playing consecutively various styles and sounds. A special event, if you will. They're very popular amongst J-core fans in the Hardcore community, and would work wonderfully here with di.FM. Definitely worth considering! I'd love to be involved in something like that if one were to happy around August or Winter (or even late summer)

Oh, I see. So in this case techno is the genre and nightcore is the sub-genre?

And also, I'm guessing that the pop and rock subculture refers to the fake nightcore?
