A lot of Nightcore Channels Are Getting Terminated in 2016

Postby Flumpy6spoty » July 4th, 2016, 11:07 pm

I just got my channel terminated and noticed a lot of other Nightcore channels are also getting copyright strikes in the past week. It seems like there's been more terminations/strikes in these past several days. Has anyone else noticed this?

1) Has anyone been successful or heard of someone getting their channel reinstated?

2) What special circumstance allowed them to get reinstated?

3) Will using a cover of a song lessen the chance of the video getting taken down?

4) What other techniques have Youtubers used to protect themselves from strikes?

Thank you for your help!
EDIT: I got my channel back after a month after I did counter notifications :D

Haven't been noticing any of this.

You can get your channel back if you oppose the copyright strike and win. That would of course require that you actually own the rights to upload the song, otherwise they're in their full right to strike you.

Covers are considered works of their own just like any other original song, almost, so they are reinforced by copyright in much the same way. They aren't necessarily safer unless the copyright holder of the cover is more accepting towards Nightcore.

Some techniques used to protect yourself are:

1. Hide the full song title by never including the artist in the video title/description, instead adding it through cards/annotations/or in-video text. This makes it much harder for copyright holders to find the video in the first place.

2. Don't monetize. A monetized video is uploaded for profit, a non-monetized video is uploaded out of passion. From my experience people seem to find the latter more acceptable.

I personally like to say something nice about the song in the very beginning of the description, so it's the first thing anyone sees. Don't know how much that actually helps, but it might.

I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary either.

I hope you had a backup of all your videos on your hard drive. You can always create a new channel and re-upload your videos.

So you had 3 copyright strikes in less than 6 months to get your channel terminated?

Mine is fine also, but I generally upload songs hardly anyone has heard of. I've only had one strike in 3 years. If you upload popular songs you're more likely to be nuked though.

If there are any Nightcore channels which should be terminated, it's the ones which poste fake nightcore. As much as I love Nightcore, there are some songs which are better left un-nightcored.
